Burgh Island
Burgh island Hotel was originally built in the 1930s on a private tidal island off the south coast of Devon. Rather than extend the existing, landmark Art Deco hotel, an entirely new suite is proposed to be constructed on the remote, easterly headland of the island.
The standalone building is envisaged as an inhabited bridge, consolidating the sculptural profile of the eroded mud-stone sea-cliffs. A series of interconnected rooms are organised to frame unique views of the dramatic sea and island landscape.
Planning approval was granted in March 2017 and construction is expected to start
