Inclusive Design
All new commercial buildings need to incorporate Inclusive Design principles to comply with Building Regulations and Disability Discrimination (Equality Act 2010) legislation. This in itself is not always as straightforward as it sounds but things get even more complicated when dealing with the alteration, extension or change of use of an existing building; it may be a case of using professional judgement to decide how to balance an optimum level of accessibility with reasonable practicality.
At jhai we have the necessary expertise: our Inclusive Design Manager Terry Warren is a Registered NRAC Access Consultant has undertaken access related work for clients such as Starbucks Coffee Shops, Metropolitan Police, Monsoon, Citizens Advice Bureau, Travis Perkins, Hackett, Travelodge, Metropolitan Housing Trust, Chloe, MFI and Palmers Brewery. He has delivered seminars and training in Inclusive Design for RIBA, RICS, ABE and Local Authorities.
Terry is an ‘on tap’ advice resource for all our surveyors and their clients.
In addition we offer custom services including:
- Access Auditing
- Access Statements and Planning advice
- Access Policy development
- Inclusive Design Workshops and DDA/Disability Equality Training for Businesses
