The annual jhai West Bay Triathlon took place on Sunday 4 June at West Bay in Dorset.
Organised by Beyond Events, this annual sporting challenge involves a bracing swim in the chilly British sea, an undulating bike course over the rolling hills of Dorset, and a run along the stunning coast that stars in the hit TV show Broadchurch.
This year's entrants could choose from two distances - a Sprint event that's suitable even for beginners, and a longer Olympic course for more experienced triathletes wanting to challenge themselves. Once again, they had the option of taking part either as an individual or as a relay team.
jhai's Company Chairman Matt Read said: 'I’m passionate about the development of sporting events in the local community, and it’s great to have such a fantastic one right on our doorstep in West Bay. We’re delighted to sponsor the West Bay Tri and I hope that jhai’s support will ensure that this community-minded event continues for many years to come.’
Unfortunately, the near-perfect weather enjoyed by last year's participants wasn't repeated this year. Strong south-westerly gusts whipped up the sea leading organisers to shorten the swim, and added unwelcome wind resistance on the run and cycle sections. Here's a short video showing a bit of the action from the swim section.
