COULD YOU RE-TRAIN AS A SITE INSPECTOR?
Director of Business Development David Charnock says we need some new thinking on Recruitment: 'Competition to find the best staff in Building Control has been increasingly fierce in recent years and 2015 promises to be no less of a challenge. Traditionally most recruitment in the industry is done through the professional press and targets fully qualified Building Surveyors. Whilst we are still very open to acquiring new staff in this way I think we now need to be a bit more imaginative if we are to keep ahead of the competition. That’s why we’re now looking at re-training site operatives such as carpenters, bricklayers and site managers for a career with jhai. People who have been working in these trades will often have a wide experience of construction work and will at the very least, have an awareness of the Building Control process. This makes them ideal candidates to work towards becoming Site Inspectors and Building Control surveyors. (In fact, as I’ve discovered over the years, many will have detailed knowledge of Approved Documents.) For those who want to take their career to the next level I think that we can offer an unrivalled training opportunity leading to professional qualification.'
